Team Believe – Athlete Profile
Sterlyng is from Leduc, Alberta and he has been swimming for 10 years. His hobbies are games, his food favorite food is ice cream and his preferred music genre is rap/ hip hop. Sterlyng attended the 2017 Alberta Spring Championship, where he achieved 6 best times 2 Gold and 2 Silver Medals. This Meet Qualified Sterlyng to attend the 2017 Canadian Western Championships, where he achieved 4 additional Best times.
After attending the 2017 Canadian Western Championships Sterlyng was named to the Swim Alberta Team, by Swim Alberta. This team represented Alberta in the 2017 Canadian Summer Games. He came home from the 2017 Canadian Summer games with a Personal Bronze Medal in his 50 Fly, and 2 team Silver meals for the 4x 50m Medley, and the 4x 100m Medley.
Sterlyng narrowly missed out on attaining another personal Bronze medal at this competition in his 100 fly by 0.01. After this prestigious meet he was once again named to the Swim Alberta Team by Swim Alberta. This travel meet, took Place in Richmond B.C. were he earned Three Silver Medals in the 50 100 20 Fly. He also helped his team with a Silver medal in Relay.
Sterlyng’s success has gotten him Qualified to attend the 2018 Olympic Trials held in Edmonton in July moving him from 23 rd in Cdn to 19 th from males 30 and under. He was one of three under 16 yr old swimmers whom competed in the event.
Sterlyng is Currently Ranked
- 1 st in Canada for 16 yr old Cdn males for his 50 Butterfly,
- 1 st in Canada for 16yr old Cdn males in his 100 Butterfly,
- 6 th in Canada for 16 yr old Canadian males in his 200 Butterfly.
Where do you see yourself in 5 Years’ time?
In five years I see myself as a interior designer.
If you could do anything or have any job for one week – what would it be?
If I could have any job for a week I would choose to be a Interior designer.
What is one thing you cannot live without?
The one thing I could not live without is support.
If you could spend one day with anyone – alive or dead, real or fictional. Who would you choose?
If I could spend one day with anyone I would chose to spend it with my girlfriend!
