The Country Bears! (55/73)

As the next morning arrived, we all hurried to get ready to head out and catch the shuttle bus to Disney Land. I could hardly contain my excitement. I could not believe that we were actually going to be in the park in less than an hour. For an almost twelve-year-old girl, this was a dream come true. I could barely sit still on the shuttle as we made our way down the streets of the city. After the shuttle bus pulled up to the front gate, we started our way to the over to enter the park. Once again, we were stuck in line up. However, this time none of us seemed to care. We were all enjoying seeing how the front gate was all decorated. You could feel the excitement in the air and before we knew it, we were all standing on the inside. Dallas, Devon and myself froze at the sites before us. This place was like nothing we had ever seen before. A fairy tale city with in a city.

We stated our journey in the park by going to Adventure Land. The first attraction we entered was a giant bird house made out of bamboo. Inside there were animatronic birds everywhere. There were singing and talking as we passed. In the middle of the house, there were areas to sit, but there did not seem to be any birds in this area. Grandma Lois took us over to sit down stating the show was going to start soon. This confused me. The thought…. ‘What show?’ was running through my head. We were in an empty room after all. Just as I was about to speak up and ask the lights started to dim. A giant smile came across my Grandma’s face. In that moment I knew she knew some thing we did not and we were about to find out what.

In the center of the room, the ceiling began to open and multiple birds on swings were being lowered into the room from above. A spotlight shining on each as they descended. Soon the birds were talking to crowd and then began to sing as they flew and swung up above our heads. It was cool to see. I had never seen any type of animatronics before. This was my first and I loved it. They looked so real. Once we exited the bird house, I wondered what was next. I could not wait to see every inch of the park. We spent the day traveling around going on every ride and seeing every show, we came across. Each one better than the one before.

Before ending the day, we went into one last attraction, admittedly my favorite. The Country Bears! I had seen pictures of their shows in the booklets Grandma had brought back from her previous trips. There was just something about them that made me adore them from the moment I first saw their picture. I sat in amazement as we watched the show. The bears playing their music and instruments as if they were alive. I wanted this moment to last forever. However, like most things in life, it was over to fast. Before we headed back to hotel for the night we stopped in once again at Coco’s for dinner. It had been a long day for all of us. My legs and feet felt as if we had walked for miles. Which we probably did considering how big the park was. It was so big you could not get through it in one day no matter how hard you tried. I was thankful that we still had two more days to see it all.

The next day we were up early again to make the morning shuttle. We spent the next two days indulging in every opportunity we had to enjoy our time there. So many rides back to back that you could barely comprehend the first one before moving onto the next. Pirates of the Caribbean, The Haunted Mansion, It’s a Small World After All, Cinderella’s Castle, Splash Mountain and of course that years famous Michael Jackson’s Captain EO ride.
